Guess What We Got...

We got a fire pit and tiki torches!!

Our new fire pit and tiki torches

Now we're ready for "summer!" I'm using quotes because summer here is barely spring anywhere else. The good news is it stays light out forever. In the middle of summer, the sun rises at 4:30 in the morning and doesn't set until 9:45! The bad news is that the average temperature in July and August is 59 degrees. Highs are only around 66 degrees. Those are shocking statistics for a native Texan!

Nevertheless, we're going to make the most of our summer. Our garden is looking lovely with all the flowers in bloom, and we bought a few fruit and veggie plants too. We're growing tomatoes, strawberries, horseradish and brussels sprouts. Kind of a crazy combination, but I'm excited to see how they turn out. If all goes well, we should be able to harvest the tomatoes and strawberries throughout summer and then the horseradish and sprouts in the fall. I plan on preparing and canning some of the horseradish to use for next Passover.
