Weekend at the Lakes

This weekend Dan and I went with some friends for a quick trip to the Lake District in England. It's a popular vacation spot and is only 2 hours away. With the weather getting nicer, it seemed like a perfect time to check it out.

We stayed in Bowness on Windermere, which is a cute little town right on the water. After walking around town for a while, we caught a boat that took us 30 minutes up the lake to Ambleside. It was a bit colder than it had been the rest of the week, but it was still beautiful.

Once in Ambleside we found a walking path that took us right by a bunch of baby lambs. So cute!

There were a bunch of nice waterfalls just outside of town too.

The next day we drove to a different lake to do some more exploring. We went to Beatrix Potter's house, which was actually pretty interesting. I loved all of her books when I was a kid, so it was cool learning more about her.

We stopped in a little town called Hawkshead and stumbled upon an amazing cafe. Look at these cakes!

We took a scenic drive up the mountains and were rewarded with spectacular views. We even found a field full of Highland cows and calves. Seriously, have you seen anything cuter?

To finish our trip, we had a nice pub lunch at a place that was established in 1496!! No, that is not a typo. This pub is only 4 years younger than Columbus' discovery of the New World. Crazy!

Another great weekend in the UK!
